After five years of dating and co-parenting their adopted plants, Maya Rajan and Swaraj Sharma will be tying the knot in San Jose on Friday, the 8th of May, 2026. 

 

Maya and Swaraj first met in the winter of 2020, only weeks before the global pandemic caused the world to shut down. The two grew up just a few minutes away from each other - never quite crossing paths until one wintry night in late January. A cousins trip to New York and some liquid courage were all it took for their first “hello”. As fate would have it, Maya and Swaraj were on opposite sides of the country that night, Swaraj with a “broken” phone that had been “run over by a snowmobile”...or so he says.

 

In the weeks that followed, their love story began to unfold. After a first date at Five Points, the pair slowly exchanged “good mornings”, “good nights” and everything in between as the shelter-in-place order went into effect. FaceTimes, Netflix Party nights, and GamePigeon tournaments became their every day. 

 

Days turned into weeks and weeks into months, but their connection remained steadfast as Maya and Swaraj went on weekly strolls around Lake Elizabeth, all under the guise of a “socially distant book club” and “pick-up football game”. Together, they’ve since celebrated many a milestone – new jobs, birthdays, anniversaries – and discovered a shared love for travel, the local chaat joint, and good tunes. The couple has traveled to six new countries in five years with two more on the books ahead of the big day.
